Ancestors

For the most part, the record only goes back one or two more generations before becoming murky. But we will summarize what we do think to be true and hope that more information is forthcoming. Much of this information came from genealogical research conducted by Muir Adair (MA), grandson of Susannah White Muir, a sister of Isaac White. Other genealogical information came from Enid Scott Boone (ESB), a daughter of Elizabeth White Scott, another sister of Isaac.  Some information came from research conducted by Mary Read Rogers (MRR) and her daughter, Elizabeth (EIR), in the 1980s and by EIR alone in the 1990s. Much of the information on the White and Munshaw line in the American colonies came from Dr. Lorna Stuart, a participant and GenForum and an mutual descendant of Catherine Meyers Fulton. She even shared her great grandmother’s recollections of early days in Toronto. More work will have to be done, but these are included to advance the story. If errors are unearthed, so much the better!  The Internet is a marvelous tool.

We do know that the next generation back, the parents of Isaac and Mary, were born in Canada, specifically Ontario. Their forebears came from what became the United States with several of them having sided with the Crown during the American Revolution. They were provided lands in Canada in reward for their loyalty and to give them a less hostile place to reside.

The roster of ancestor names thus far includes Munshaw (Mundschauer), White, Hunter, Grennis, Abbott, and Fulton.  We have organized the ancestors by Isaac’s or Mary’s line and  then by surname, chronologically.  We have nested surnames as well, in a effort to visually clarify where these names fit in.  For example, Moses and Hunter are further nested under the White line as they are ancestors of our Isaac.
